Lord Nataraja – The divine cosmic dancer is the king of dance or the god of dance. The term Nata means dance and raja mean king. Hence he is termed as the king or lord of the dance. Lord Nataraja’s gentle form of dance is called Lasya (creation) and the violent form of dance is called Thandavam(destruction).
It is said that he performs the cosmic dance as the process of creating, maintaining, and destructing the universe. The Brass Nataraja Statue represents his Anandha Thandavam, the blissful dance. This handcrafted Nataraja idol depicts his dancing form with flying strands of hair along with river Ganga and moon crescent on the head, raised left leg and right leg stamping on the demon Muyalakan. In this sculpture, he has 4 hands in which two hands will be holding damaru and fire, where the other two coiled by snakes are showing Abhaya mudra (for protection and liberation).
This brass idol is worshipped to enhance the artistic qualities and creative senses. Placing the Natarajar statue in the northeast corner is considered auspicious. The best place to keep this brass idol of Nataraja is at home, dance, and other art academies and also be an adorable gift for dancers and art people.Â
